DoD Announces New Contracts, Including $311 Million to Lockheed Martin

The American military is famous for spending money. President Biden has requested a DOD budget of $715 billion for FY 2022. That is an increase of 1.6% over the $703.7 billion that was enacted for FY 2021. As a result, they have recently announced new contracts. Here are some of the highlights.

Lockheed Martin, Maryland: $231,400,000

This contract is listed as a "firm-fixed-price modification to previously awarded contract N00024-20-C-5310 to definitize the initial award, and procure an additional 70 MK41 Vertical Launching System modules and ancillary equipment for DDG 51-class destroyers and FFG 62-class frigates."What is unique about this contract is that only 80% is coming from America. Australia and Spain account for the remanding 20%.

Lockheed Martin, Virginia : $80,240,289

This announcement stating the contract was for "Surface Ship Undersea Warfare Combat System and AN/SQS-53C transmitter infrastructure shipset hardware."The United States is purchasing 96% of this contract. Consequently, Australia is accounting for the remaining 6%.

Tetra Tech Inc.: $90,000,000

This contract states it is a "cost-plus-award-fee modification to previously-awarded, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract N62470-16-D-9008 to increase the maximum dollar value and extend the period of performance for comprehensive long-term environmental architect-engineering services on Navy and Marine Corps installations at sites in the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Atlantic area of responsibility. "This modification changes the value of the initial contract to $368,000,000.

L3 Technologies Inc.: $9,593,306

The Pentagon stated this was a "modification (P00037) to contract FA8621-16-C-6371 for the Increment III Full Motion Flight Simulator for the Airborne Warning and Control System Diminishing Manufacturing Sources Replacement of Avionics for Global Operations and Navigation Program."

ManTech SRS Technologies Inc.: $38,482,043

This contract listed for system engineering and integration. Additionally, this will "support national security space launch, launch service providers integration, certification support and fleet surveillance support. "The work will take place on Space Force bases in both Florida and California. Additionally, DOD are targeting a summer 2022 completion.Some of these are fairly wordy and kind of confusing.
