We did the best movie for each branch, but since we had such a difficult time picking JUST ONE movie, we decided we'd list the five best movies for each branch. The criteria is simple, how does the movie make you feel about said branch? If we (as Marines) can look at these Army movies and get all excited and motivated about the Army, our biggest competitor, then chances are it's a great movie about the Army. We're going to start off with the one we picked as the best Army movie. We Were Soldiers. We already made it clear that was number one, so the following list will be 1-5 AFTER We Were Soldiers, make sense? We Were Soldiers is the best, these are the alternate Top 5.Let us know your top 5 movies for the Army in the comments section1. Saving Private RyanThere is no way that you can argue with this. In fact, we had such a hard time putting it behind We Were Soldiers we almost retracted the article. It is the defining movie depicting the Greatest Generation. No other D-Day scene comes close.

The Army

2. Blackhawk DownThe movie misses in some areas and hits really well in others. In regards to telling the overarching story of what happened that day, success. In being a documentary full of exacting precision...not so much. We still love it. If it does anything, it shows the difficulty of carrying out operations in urban terrain.

The Army

3. StripesBill Murray. That's really all we need to say right? How could we not love the ever hilarious Bill Murray as John Winger? As badass as the military may be, we're also a bunch of pranksters, jokers, and degenerates.

The Army

4. The Last CastleHear us out on this one. The premise was totally unreasonable on so many fronts, however, it does a great job of showing the difference between a leader and someone with rank. This movie was and is still highly underrated, but we liked the idea behind it, even if far-fetched.

The Army

5. In The Army NowSeriously underrated. So much closer to reality than a whole host of other movies. Instead of a jacked up warrior ready to kill, you have everyday dudes and ladies, who purify water, who strangely end up in combat...the movie is ridiculous to a fault, but sometimes life in the military is ridiculous to a fault.
