The Marine Corps does a lot of really great things with leadership and ensuring that Marines of all ranks and billets have a working knowledge of what the Corps believes to be the essential traits of a leader. There are fourteen traits that are instilled into Marines early on in their career. The acronym for the leadership traits is JJDIDTIEBUCKLE, which elongated translates to Judgment, Justice, Dependability, Integrity, Decisiveness, Tact, Initiative, Enthusiasm, Bearing, Unselfishness, Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty and Endurance.
