Due to his illustrious past, actor Mark Wahlberg has been extremely vocal as of late about his quest for repentance. It's no surprise, as Mark has had what many might call a "checkered" past. Mark is officially on the repentance train. "I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving because I've made some poor choices in my past," Mark told reporters during an event this past weekend in Chicago benefiting Catholic youth.

Mark is mainly referencing his break out movie role Boogie Nights where he stared as Eddie Adams or as some of you may know him better "Dirk Diggler." However, that's not all Wahlberg claims to need repentance for. As someone who has become successful in spite of his early misadventures, Mark believes he can be a positive role model for youth now. "I've never been shy about sharing my past and the bad decisions I've made and being affiliated with gangs, being incarcerated, so absolutely I think they can identify with me on a personal level, and that's why I've continued to try to do as much as I can to help young people," says the actor. While asking for repentance for Boogie Nights may be difficult, Mark believes it's the right thing to do to set an example for people in an industry plagued by so many sexual scandals. Despite the film's success, Wahlberg warns of losing yourself in the midst of your success, "In my daily prayers, I ask for guidance, strength in my vocation as a husband and as a father."We don't know where you stand with God, Mark. Honestly, that's between the two of you, but we're glad that you're trying to do things to right the wrongs you've perceived in your life. Self-reflection and taking responsibility are easy, but actually changing the way you act and how you present yourself, that's the challenge. We're proud of you Mark, keep improving and maybe stay away from any future Transformers movies as a preemptive step in the right direction.
