So this one time, World War 2 happened and we had this guy Arthur Jackson, a Marine, who killed like...everyone he could. Totally cut out the middleman and slew bodies in bulk on the island of Peleliu. So sit back, relax and take in the sheer amount of badassness that Jackson displayed because it's a pretty damn enjoyable story.Almost a year after the bombings of Pearl Harbor, Arthur enlisted into the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18. From there he met up with the Marines of the 1st MarDiv in Australia. It took him a bit to get spun up for what he was about to do on Peleliu, but during the Cape Gloucester Campaign, he showed an early flash of the bravery that he would soon be known for. He braved enemy fire carrying a wounded Marine to safety. We imagine that he laughed at the idea that bullets could stop him. Now, onto Peleliu. Over ten thousand defenders dug in on the island. And almost every single one of them died. The United States Marine Corps was dealing death in bulk. Especially (and we're a little proud of this) Arthur Jackson from Third Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment (No Shit). Jackson ran up to a fortified enemy position and it's thirty-five enemy defenders. Arthur unloaded with devastating automatic fire into the entryway, then hurled several grenades and explosives into the pillbox as well. What a way to give the giant middle finger to the enemy, and the horse they rode in on. Everyone inside was delivered to the afterlife posthaste.

Arthur Jackson

He wasn't done yet. Several smaller enemy positions continued to give the Marines trouble and Arthur was none too pleased to deal with their shit. Especially after showing them what he could do to the larger emplacements. So, then PFC Jackson decided to go all "Hulk-Smash" on all of the other pillboxes and enemy soldiers in his vicinity. When all was said and done, Arthur Jackson had "Hulk-Smashed" twelve enemy pillboxes and killed fifty enemy fighters. Not bad for a days work. For his actions on that day, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. Later on, he'd be promoted to the rank of Captain and then he did some shit in Cuba, but that's another story entirely.3/7, No Shit.Read more stories of American Grit:
