The shooting reportedly took place at the baggage claim area. Ari Fleischer, a former spokesman for the White House, tweeted out from the airport saying "everyone is running."

I'm at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Shots have been fired. Everyone is running.

He later went on to say that the part of the airport that he is in has been locked down and that no one is yet allowed to leave.

All seems calm now but the police aren't letting anyone out of the airport - at least not the area where I am.
