We get one life to live and one life to make a difference.Chad Hennings played football for the United States Air Force Academy and he was really really good. However, Chad believed in something bigger than himself and despite being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, Chad made the decision to join the Air Force.Juggling the commitment to the Air Force and the Dallas Cowboys proved to be a challenge, however, as soon as he focused on his Air Force training, good things started to happen.

Chad Hennings

What kinds of good things? Well, Hennings graduated his pilot training (pilots are cool yo) and was given several options as far as airframes go. F-111, ok that's a pretty cool aircraft. F-15, also a really cool aircraft, but not quite the right fit for the 6'6'' Hennings...however the most badass plane in the world would soon find it's cockpit the home of one Chad Hennings. Chad picked the A-10 Thunderbolt II, better known as the Warthog. Get some. Make it rain depleted uranium.Straight baller move Chad. Chad Hennings then deployed to the Persian Gulf twice, sending 30mm depleted uranium pieces of freedom towards the ne'er do wells harassing the Kurds in Northern Iraq. Best believe you shouldn't be harassing innocents when A-10s are in the air providing cover. That's a quick way to get pink misted.

Chad Hennings

After the war was over, Chad was allowed to have the rest of his time in service waived as the United States military was downsizing. Upon his release from active duty, Chad joined up with the Dallas Cowboys and played till 2000. During his career, he won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys. Just goes to show, you can do it all. After retiring, Chad works as a motivational speaker and is a published author. To have fought in a war, played in the NFL, fly the Warthog....what a life. In addition to all of these things, people say Chad's character and leadership was his greatest attribute of all.Read more stories of American Grit:
