We as Americans live a very sheltered, disconnected, and entitled life. You could say we have gotten “soft” but we are way past that point. The days of drinking through the garden hose, riding your bike all day and putting dirt in your cut are gone, but only if you let it. I look around and see my fellow Americans, unfit, unhealthy, disconnected with reality and believing everything that the big tech propaganda machine has put in their pocket. Are you taking control of your life or is your life controlling you? At War HOGG Tactical our mantra is Be 1% Better Everyday!
The Softening Of American Life
What are you doing to make yourself better every day? Most Americans don’t exercise, eat garbage and waste time, your most precious commodity, on that phone. Embracing a lifestyle of continuance self-improvement can lead to a more fulfilling and resilient life. By prioritizing physical fitness, reconnecting with nature, building community ties, and cultivating mental resilience, we can break free from modern technology constraints.
Accountability Check
As the co-host of On The Range Podcast we also have a show called War HOGG Words of Wisdom where I conduct an accountability check with the viewers / listener. I use the five F’s. Fitness, Firearms, Family, Faith, and Finances. Ask yourself this.
- Have I worked out today? If not, hit the gym today.
- Have you conducted your dry fire firearms training? If not, do it today. You can use The Firearms Training Notebook to combine both your firearms and fitness training and have a training plan for both!
- Family, what have you done to be a better husband, father, brother, son, ect. Pick up that phone and make that call, especially if your parents are still alive.
- Faith is just not on the spiritual side with God but also your mental well-being.
- Finances are always one of those pain points for people, but look at how much we waste on junk. Is that $5 Starbucks cup of coffee worth it?
Get Out And Train!
Tomorrow, I’ll start tomorrow. That’s the biggest excuse I hear from people, start today! I can’t stand New Year’s resolutions, that is an excuse to wait to change your life. One of the biggest things I see with most Americans is the lack of getting out and getting after it. Grab your running shoes and start by putting some miles on the street.
When I retired from the Army after 29 years, fitness was a big part of my life. I was not going to stop that. What I realized when I was driving to and from the gym I was “wasting” my time that I could be investing in my business or my family. I started looking online and found all kinds of fitness equipment that people were selling for cheap. We started to build our garage gym. It’s open 24/7/365 and it's paid for.
What are you doing to train to make yourself better?
Build TRUE Connections
So, you have a bunch of followers on Instagram but what’s their true names not their IG handles. We have turned into a society where the number of followers somehow means we are “connected” with people.
I have met people at SHOT Show that introduce themselves by their IG handles. Has big tech brainwashed them? Absolutely, all by big tech design. I always ask, “What’s your real name?"
Regaining Our Sense of Reality
We are always on our phones and just being pumped with big tech propaganda. Look at how much time we waste on social media. The only reason I am on social media is to market my business War HOGG Tactical. I also found out after our IG page @warhoggtactical was deactivated, social was a very poor return on investment for my time and I DO NOT control that platform.
Get outside and go for a walk, get some vitamin D and breathe the fresh air. We are cooped up indoors way too much and ask yourself is it by your design? Are you sitting on the couch scrolling TikTok cat videos?
Journaling
I’m a fan of pen to paper, I feel it helps me remember things better than thumbs to screen, what type of notetaker are you? One of my big regrets when I was active duty was not journaling enough. I just wrote a quick recap of the day and things I could improve on. I’m always looking for that self-improvement.
Take Control
You have the ability to be a pipe hitter or a cream puff, the choice is yours. Make wise decisions with your time, invest in you and your family. Don’t let the world's distractions get you off course. Strive to Be 1% Better Everyday!
