Pickup day shark attack. Oh what a spectacle it is. Drill Sergeants love it, Privates fear it. It is probably one of the most memorable moments in a Soldier's career when they step off that bus and all hell breaks loose. For most it is the first time they have been exposed to that much stimuli, from so many directions, in their entire lives. Some break down, some cry, some just stand there with a look of "WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW?" on their faces like the young private in the photo above.
The pickup day shark attack is designed to produce shock and awe and mark the start of the transition from crayon eating civilian to professional soldier. I could watch these videos all day.
