Punisher Coming to Netflix

The entire theme of the new Punisher trailer released on Wednesday, September 20th revolves around buried secrets and reveals, and it seems like Marvel Studios is taking that concept all the way into the marketing and promotion of The Punisher series. The show has released a lineup of vague, violent teasers - each holding back from revealing anything about the villains, any major story arc details, or official release date info. By holding back the actual release date for The Punisher, Marvel and Netflix are definitely generating buzz and interest for the series.

Though Marvel has yet to reveal the release date for their upcoming series, The Punisher, fans shouldn’t be surprised if it hits Netflix anytime soon. Some insiders expect to be marveling at the bullet-filled Daredevil spin-off before Halloween!

In the series, Castle might have a war against bad folk, but he uses their own dubious methods against them. Writer Steve Lightfoot revealed their plan to make the character relatable despite his brutality. “In Daredevil, he was a guy with a very simple agenda, which was revenge,” said Lightfoot.“At heart, you've got a very tough guy who isn't necessarily great at showing is feelings, having at some point to deal with the loss of his family,” Lightfoot said. “And that's something everyone can identify with."This trailer gives us an extended look at what to expect from the vigilante’s reign of bloody vengeance. After three live-action movies that failed to get the attention the brutal vigilante deserved, he’s found his home on Netflix with long-time foil Daredevil and the rest of The Defenders. The Punisher was given his own solo series after he made his appearance in Daredevil season 2. Jon Bernthal clearly made his mark on fans and studio executives alike with his performance, and Netflix has slowly been building up the anticipation for The Punisher ever since.

When will the show ultimately debut? Only Marvel and Neflix know for sure, but sources in the know are telling us to be on the lookout for it before November!
