Authorities are currently reviewing the horrific footage of a Facebook live video in which a mentally handicapped man was bound, gagged, and tortured on Chicago's West Side. Four suspects are currently in custody in relation to the incident, two adult males, and two adult females. The police were made aware of the video Tuesday afternoon, in which an African-American woman films the torture. The young male's scalp was cut, he was kicked, and cigarette ash was put on him. Several people can be seen laughing and eating as the torture goes on.There are clear voices in the background of the video of people saying "F*** white people. F*** Donald Trump," as the young man suffers. One woman in the background interjects, "My sister says this not funny, y'all."One man responds. "F*** it, it's funny to me."
“It’s sickening,” Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson told CBS Chicago at a news conference.“It makes you wonder what would make individuals treat somebody like that. I’ve been a cop for 28 years, and I’ve seen things that you shouldn’t see in a lifetime, but it still amazes me how you still see things that you just shouldn’t.“I’m not going to say it shocked me, but it was sickening.”Many are branding this as a hate crime. The young man in the video was a special needs person who had been reported missing from a suburb earlier. The crime itself took place on Chicago's West Side, on the 3400 block of West Lexington.Authorities say that the victim was an "acquaintance" of one of the attackers. They met in the suburbs. The group reportedly stole a van and then kidnapped the young man.The victim has been treated and released from the hospital, and is currently with his parents. We have a portion of the video below.
