Army veteran and Police Officer of 30 years killed on duty

heavy.com[/caption]Lt. Joseph Gliniewicz was killed around 0800 on Tuesday September 1, 2015 after being shot by 3 unknown assailants. Gliniewicz was shot while pursuing the suspects on foot after a traffic stop. There is still a large manhunt going on in the area that has the support of the community, roughly 100 officers from the region, including dogs, and helicopter support.Lt. Gliniewicz was a 30 year veteran of the Fox Lake police force as well as a U.S. Army veteran and community figure. This loss is felt not only by his family, a wife and four children, but the entire community including those he worked with in the Police Explorer post, building the post of 30 years, teaching young men and women the techniques involved in police work. Lt. Gliniewicz had just met with the Fox Lake Mayor about his upcoming retirement at the end of September.
