Remains of USAF Crew Members Going Home Today
With the help of Indian Prime Minister Modi and the Indian Military, the remains of 2 USAF B-24 crew members are going home today in a ceremony honoring the two fallen Airmen. They were killed while flying missions on the Hump Airlift, a supply line crossing the Himalayas between India and China during World War Two.
Warming relations between India and America as a result of the Obama pivot towards Asia has paved way for the repatriation of remains of missing US servicemen left in India. More than 400 American soldiers are missing in air crashes flying the supply line crossing the Himalayas, nicknamed "The Hump" between India and China after Japanese forces invaded Burma cutting off the only overland resupply route for Chiang kai-shek's China Nationalists forces in holed up in Sichuan province.
