Breaking: Bowe Bergdahl Avoids Jail

The latest from the cluster**** of Bowe Bergdahl's trial is that he will avoid jail time. We cannot possibly be more disappointed in the military justice system. There was a time when we could hold ourselves accountable for the mistakes we've made. Bowe should have expected the death penalty given the men that were killed or wounded while searching for him. His apology means nothing to the gold star families. It won't bring their husband, son or father back, but he gets to live on.

This is whats wrong with America. This is what robs us of our hope for the American dream. We don't mind playing the game and being in the rat race if its at least somewhat fair. However, when you have someone so grievously trespass against our ideals, literally costing men their lives, get off with a slap on the wrist, it brings shame to a once honorable institution.In 2009 Bowe disappeared and was subsequently captured/joined the Taliban forces. After years in captivity, the Obama administration released five of the worst terrorists we had locked up in Guantanamo Bay for one traitorous coward.

Many men still suffer every day with the visible and invisible wounds the war has left them with. They ponder suicide because they feel like they could have done more to save their brother from harm. They drink their once promising lives away after years of honorable service because they wanted to do more. Yet here, the military court, ignoring the responsibility it has in upholding our honor and our commitment to not just our country, but ourselves, has decided to allow a man who is directly responsible for the deaths of American's to be dishonorably discharged, pay a ten thousand dollar fine and be reduced in rank from E-5 to E-1. The scales of justice need to be zeroed, because we just don't see the justice in that punishment. Hell, it wasn't enough for us when it was life in prison.Shame on you military court for letting down those who still serve this great nation and those who have come before. You're complicit in Bowe's dishonor.
