The top 5 fighter jets in the world all fly fast as hell and turn on a dime, executing maneuvers that put tremendous strain on the body. Can we all take a minute to appreciate that fighter jets are pretty damn cool? Whether you're watching the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds, the roar of the jet engine and the acute agility of these incredible machines in unsurpassed.1. F-22 Raptor-United States
Right now, the United States Air Force has the belle of the ball when it comes to fighter jets. The F-22 Raptor has maneuverability, speed, and stealth, like nobody else in the game right now. It can see you and kill you before you even know its there. The F-22 Raptor is the king of the skies with little to no real competition.2. Euro Typhoon - EuropeWhile we hate to admit it, this collaboration of several European countries is pretty awesome. One of the features that prop the Typhoon up as the number two plane on our list is the ability of 'supercruise'. Supercruise enables the jet to maintain a cruising speed above the speed of sound. Many modern fighter jets are unable to do this and give the Typhoon an edge in the ability to get to its target faster than anyone else.
3. F-35 Lightning II- United StatesWe're being really generous here and going off of what the developers say make the F-35 II a game changer. Despite several setbacks and disappointing tests, the F-35 II still has time to show that it can be a major player if (big IF) it ever lives up to the boasts made by its developers.
4. Su-35 - RussiaThe Sukhoi 35 is the latest in the Russian Sukhoi lines, it is a heavy duty multi-role fighter that can do almost anything you ask of it (except beat the top American planes! 'Merica!). This fighter is nimble and powerful in keeping with Russian aircraft tradition boasting two powerful engines that enable an almost completely vertical takeoff.
5. F-16 Fighting Falcon- United StatesThere are a lot of planes out there that we could have put here. However, the F-16 has been and continues to be a reliable airframe that dusted the F-35 in simulations. If the F-35 gets such a high ranking for the 'capabilities' it will hopefully one day follow through on, then a plane that threw down against an F-35 deserves to be here as well. Plus, we're huge fans of the movie "Iron Eagle" and Doug Masters.
Honorable Mentions- F/A-18 Super Hornet (United States), J-10 (China), Dassault Rafale (France)
