We all work really hard, nobody is disputing that or trying to be lazy. We're gonna tell you how to look busy so that you don't tire yourself out. Every once in a while you might need to pace yourself. It's not that you're not working hard or being productive, you're just not exhausting yourself.

How to Look Busy

The name of the game is being efficient with our work. We're extremely hard workers but after a marathon of work, or a hard push at the end of the month, maybe don't sprint. Just pace yourself throughout the day so you don't get lumped into doing extra work (see our video on being an office ninja). Maybe walk really fast in an extremely deliberate manner. You've got things to do, you're showing folks your busy. Nevermind the fact that when you get to where you're going, you're going to slow it way down. Carrying things always intensifies this effect.

How to Look Busy

Another useful tip is to make copies. Look stuff around the office is always getting lost, it's prudent to ensure that you have copies of those TPS reports so that everyone sees them and we don't have to come in on Saturday morning. Coming in on a Saturday morning entirely defeats the idea of how to look busy. You don't look busy, you ARE busy. So you stand your ground by the copy machine, making sure that there are extra copies of everything for days, even last years calendar, who knows when you might need that? It's planning executed to the highest levels, you're not blowing work off, you're long-term planning and strategizing. You're a problem solver.

How to Look Busy

With a few more helpful tips, you should be well on your way to looking busy, but not actually being busy. Afterall, you work really really hard and you could use a smidgen of a break at work. Right?
