Hollywood seems to be running out of ideas, as they remake movies over and over. This is puzzling considering the amount of captivating true stories that already exist. Undoubtedly, there have been a lot of amazing war movies that have been based on true events.Movies, based on true events, like Lone Survivor, 12 Strong, and Unbroken have been made recently. While movies like Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers, and Glory would now be old enough to vote. Premise movies like Saving Private Ryan, Windtalkers, and 1917 also shinned. These last 3 may have not been based on one person specifically, but they were compilations of real situations, and experiences. We love combing over these war movies with our buddies. However, we put together a list of 3 other war stories that deserve the big screen treatment. Specifically, this list focuses on Vietnam, and future lists will highlight stories from other conflicts.

The Greatest Beer Run in History

This is the true story of how John "Chickie" Donohue brought beer to his buddies fighting in Vietnam. Chickie was a Marine Corps vet and Merchant Marine, who braved enemy fire to share a few cold ones with childhood friends. ‘Green Book’ Director, Peter Farrelly, had been announced as being in charge of the book adaptation, but that was over a year ago. There has been practically no news, until recently it was announced that Viggo Mortensen had been cast. We hope this project doesn't fall apart, and will be excited to watch this when it comes out. Few things would be better than watching a war movie about drinking with your buddies, while you are drinking with your buddies.[caption id="attachment_22827" align="alignnone" width="300"]

Captain John Ripley

This Marine was an absolute stud. He was Force Recon, and the owner of the coveted tittle of Quad Bod. The tiger stripe wearing hard ass did things that were seemingly impossible. He swung from the bottom of a bridge, and rigged hundreds of pound of explosives. All of this done while under heavy enemy fire. After 3 exhausting hours of setting charges, he finally blew up the bridge. This prevented 200 North Vietnamese Army tanks from crossing into the strategic city of Hue by nightfall. This story is bananas and deserves it's time on the big screen. Especially in light of the fact many believed he deserved the Medal of Honor.[caption id="attachment_22826" align="alignnone" width="241"]

Master Sergeant "Roy" Benavidez

This is one of the craziest stories I've ever heard. Benavidez is a special forces legend that was awarded the Medal of Honor. Insanity is the only way to describe his heroic actions. Injured multiple times in a patrol gone wrong, he killed the enemy in almost every way possible. He directed helicopters to rescue his incapacitated team. Despite receiving massive amounts of bodily damage, he kept going back for the injured and the dead. When the medics finally convinced Benavidez to get into an evacuation helicopter, he was holding his own intestines. The doctor thought he was dead. Benavidez actually spit in his face when he tried to zip his body bag up. That alone would be Oscar worthy.[caption id="attachment_22825" align="alignnone" width="236"]
