Despite the growing infection rates around the world, the city on a hill, the jewel of Earth, the United States of America has seen its citizens being logical and calm despite the epidemic of COVID-19. Truly we are a superpower not only because of our immense military strength and technology but also due to the united and unpanicked front we present to the world.Other countries may falter and stumble. While Americans are being logical and calm, other countries are buying out supplies of toilet paper, lawn furniture, "Live, Laugh, Love" signs and body glitter. Yet, here we remain, the stalwart lion amid the trembling sheep who inhabit the rest of the world. While everyone else ignores the CDC and the WHO in favor of mass hysteria, the citizenry of the United States stands unmoved, sharing only pertinent and accurate articles across social media, not contributing to the mass hysteria around the world. And while other countries continued to demand employees who felt sick to come into work, Americans responsibly self-quarantined themselves if they felt the slightest bit ill.All in all, we can say that we're proud of how our country has acted despite the fear that surely grips them. As Edward R. Murrow stated so eloquently in 1954"We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men."How true those words ring out as we watch the rest of the world crumble while we continue to stand strong in the face of adversity. How fortunate are we to have been born here, where we are not descended from fearful men, but rather our ancestry is that of logical and calm figures who've provided an example for us to follow. Continue on America, continue on.
