Father Teaches Son to Fish

The old ways are seemingly dying out. Where men used to hunt and fish and live off the land, they have been replaced with soy coffee drinking shadows of their former selves. Few stand as a stalwart defense against the ever-approaching de-masculinization that threatens to take this country by the throat. It has been said that “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times.” As we look about we can see the cycle being repeated in front of us, however, there are those among us. There are the faithful few that remember the words and wisdom of their fathers and their fathers before them. They remain true to the old ways. Such is the case when we look at this video where a father teaches son and passes the torch of wisdom.While it may seem primitive to many of you, and even dangerous, be mindful this child is learning self-sufficiency. If he masters this skill, among the many others we’re sure his father is teaching, the young man will stand head and shoulders above his peers if supermarkets should ever fail us. Heaven forbid our country go down the path of Venezuela, where there are riots for food in the streets, but if it does, this young man will be prepared. Not only is the skill here a practical one, but in everything, there is a life lesson to be had. You are more capable than you think. You can survive, you can provide for yourself and not starve. Think of the self-confidence that will build in this young man. Whereas some people are lost when walking in a grocery store at the age of 22 and 23, this boy knows how to get food and provide for himself before he is 10. To be a parent is to pass on the knowledge that you’ve gained in order to preserve your child’s future, to enable them through their work ethic and wisdom, to be more successful than you ever were.
