...All the insurgents fall till all pew pew mo'f***ckers, all pew pew god damn! Happy Birthday, Marines!!We raise our glass to the most revered fighting force on this planet. I know, I know it's moto as hell and I should be ashamed, but I'm not because it's time for our birthday. For two hundred and forty-three years, we've been doing what everyone else wants to do, but can't. What is it that we do that nobody else can? We win the battle before we even show up.Fear and trepidation cause worry and stress amongst our enemies. We keep them awake at night before we even land. The knowledge that the United States Marines are coming and we're coming to fight, come hell or high water is a weapon in and of itself. The only thing more formidable than that knowledge though is what actually happens when push comes to shove and you take the restraints off of Marines.Downright dirty, filthy and grimy, in combat, we know that what matters is that we win, and we do. From Belleau Wood to Iwo, to Chosin to Khe Sahn pushing through to the modern days where Marines wrecked Helmand Province by bangin' in Sangin and annihilated resistance in the Iraqi cities of Fallujah, Ramadi, and Marjah.Cleaned up, pristine and crisp, we look damn dirty fine when we come back home.
The words on a wall at SOI West, Camp Pendelton ring true."We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing."The quote has been attributed to many people, Mother Teresa, Konstantin Jirecek or even unknown, but whoever said it, sure had a good understanding of Marines.Happy 243rd Birthday Marines, continue to slay bodies for St. Mattis Lord of Chaos and War.
