If you play stupid games you'll win stupid prizes. Such was the lesson learned by former (we say former because homeboy is dead) escaped convict Bruce McLaughlin Jr. found out the hard way when he broke into a South Carolina home. Ol' Bruce had been locked up for burglary and grand larceny broke into the home of a South Carolina woman who just so happened to be armed. And let's be clear here, when we say armed, we don't mean homegirl was brandishing a little folding knife from Wal-Mart. Nope. This woman was armed the right way, with a gat.Bruce and his buddy Timothy Cleveland Dill had escaped early on the morning of December 4th, around 2:30 a.m. The two separated and Dill was picked up rather quickly. Brucey boy though...he didn't get caught right away. He managed to make it to a house where true to his burglarizing nature, broke in. The homeowner called 911 and proceeded to do the only rational thing as police do not have the benefit of instantaneous transport when a crime is being committed. She armed herself.So did Bruce though, with a knife sharpening tool from the kitchen.Everyone, let's take a quick break for an audience poll;Knife sharpening tool versus a gun. Who wins and why?Ding ding ding, if you picked the gun, and said because it's a f***ing gun, congratulations we have a luxury high five for two waiting for you if you ever come to visit us. Back to the story.The homeowner proceeded to teach Bruce that if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Prizes like multiple gunshot wounds that resulted in his death. The homeowner had undergone training and was a Concealed Handgun License holder.Just goes to show the truth of the matter when we all refer to the gun as the great equalizer when it comes to life or death situations.She followed the wise words of MF Grimm;
"I keep two things, a gun and a plan."
