It's not that bad. News outlets across the globe are portraying the United States like this horrid evil monster for using tear gas at the border. Like we're literally using cyanide or sarin gas to keep these people out of our country. Do you want to know the truth about CS or Tear Gas? Do you? It's mildly irritating. By the time I hit the fleet in the Marine Corps and had participated in the gas chamber only twice I was over it. I'm not saying this because I'm a particularly tough or brave individual. I still get as mad as a donkey with a tiny pecker when I step on Legos barefoot. That shit will put me in a fighting mood for sure. Tear gas...it will clear out my sinuses and cause me to cough a little bit. That's generally the reaction I've seen from most people who've undergone tear gas. The first time it blows, but after getting out of it you sit back and think "Wow, why was I such a gaping little bitch about that. It was nothing." Really it was nothing. It was a mild inconvenience and the effects wore off pretty damn quick. It's not like I'm maligned for life or will get some super disease with no cure because I inhaled some CS gas at one point in time. I'm sorry I keep flopping on what I'm calling it. CS/Tear gas is the same thing, so I use the nomenclature interchangeably.I'm not over here hoping that I get gassed, but the way the media is reacting to tear gas would have you think we're over here executing Order 66 like Palpatine on these poor defenseless migrants who are throwing rocks. They throw rocks, they get mildly inconvenienced with some respiratory issues and their eyes burn a little or they rewarded with getting their sinuses clear.Either way, it's not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. I can think of at least 50-60 other Marines by name who like me, on their third trip in the gas chamber, took a deep breath because they wanted to clear out their sinuses.Maybe let's all calm down. It's tear gas, not nuclear weapons.
