If you are one of the ‘many’ people who go to family holidays without a second thought as to how to avoid some type of drama or struggle… Well, I don’t know why you’re reading this. For the rest of us, there comes a time every year where we need to prepare ourselves with a bit of old-fashioned alchemy, except instead of turning lead into gold, we’re turning your holidays into a fun and manageable experience. Check out these cocktails to make the season bright but use this power wisely.
Adult Eggnog
Simply mix the liquid ingredients together but warm the eggnog on the stove or microwave first, just slightly. The extra effort makes it seem like you’re enjoying a nightcap instead of trying to forget why Cousin Jeff is an ass. Sprinkle with nutmeg and add a cinnamon stick for your partner’s if you made them endure this with you.
1 oz Brandy
.5 oz Amaretto
2 oz Eggnog
1 oz Milk (optional for a less thick drink)
Freshly Grated Nutmeg
Cinnamon Stick (For Garnish)
Christmas Mule
This Christmas remix of the Moscow Mule makes it more patriotic, as well as ensuring a high enough ABV to be with the extra preparation. Bonus points for the copper mug, which will make it easier to find on crowded countertops.
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Peppermint Schnapps
1 oz 100% All-Natural Cranberry Juice (No Sugar Added)
4 oz Ginger Beer
¼ Tbsp Simple Syrup
Rosemary Sprig or Peppermint Stick If You’re Feeling Festive
Holiday Mimosas
As many of us have experienced from the Brunch people, mimosas can do a great deal of damage if not respected but are a good way to share the love with the cool cousins by making a classier drink you’ll be less judged for pounding in the morning.
1.5 oz Pomegranate Juice
1.5 oz Orange Juice
4 oz Prosecco, Champagne or other Sparkling Wine
Whole Cranberries, Because Fruit Makes It Healthy
