Has life started to wear you down physically, emotionally, and spiritually? Are you in need of a kick start to feel better and more fulfilled? It happens to the best of us and make no mistake life is hard. While life won’t get easier, there are a few things you can do to help feel a little bit more fulfilled at the end of the day.
Face to face contact with people you care about.
Make the connection in a personal meaningful way. Social media has made it so easy to connect that we’ve been stripped of what it truly means to connect with a best friend or loved ones. This lack of connection with your fellow humans can leave you feeling drained and depressed as your serotonin levels drop. Serotonin is the chemical in your brain that gives you a feeling of happiness and contentment with life. So if you’re feeling blue, invites a few friends over or make plans to meet up with friends.
Make a difference.
Ask people the world round, they stopped feeling sorry for themselves when they went out and made a difference. Selfless service to others has a big way of impacting our lives for the better. Malcom Forbes the founder of Forbes magazine told people “You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.” One of the best indicators of who you are as a person is how you treat those around you. The key to feeling better during this endeavor is to not do it to feel better, but to serve others because you see a need and wholly committing to making their lives easier.
Get your rest.
For some unknown reason, we believe that wrecking our life to be successful should be the norm and it’s how we are recognized as hard workers and productive citizens. Fact is, you’ll burn out. If you’re feeling like we described in our first paragraph, chances are you’re burned out because of improper sleep, nutrition or exercise. These three things are essential to having a fresh mind and positive outlook on life. You don’t need to become a body builder or a health nut, but adding 30 minutes of exercise and decreasing the sugar could go a long way towards making you feel better about life.
Don't forget to set goals.
Our final point will be goals. You need to set a goal, even if it’s just a small one to accomplish for that day. Accomplishment fuels to mind and body towards further accomplishment. It’s been said, “How do you begin a journey of 1000 miles, with one step.” Start your goals for the day small and grow them, the more you accomplish, the more you’ll accomplish. Weird, right? The key is to be intentional with how you care for yourself and your body. If you set a goal to take 30 minutes for yourself at the end of the work day, stick to it. Take that time. Maybe you won’t need it the next day and you’ll accomplish a small task on your “honey-do” list. If you get up, get outside, and start moving and doing, chances are you’ll find a lot less downtime to be sad about yourself and a lot more time feeling fulfilled.
