McDonald's twitter lit up this morning with a message to President Trump:
oh my it’s even pinned pic.twitter.com/tGv6EdpZEm
— Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) March 16, 2017
The tweet, which was later removed, was pinned to the top of the feed for several minutes. It had hundreds of likes and retweets before it was finally taken down. Some were quick to jump to conclusions regarding the message:
@oliverdarcy @realDonaldTrump this is absolutley disgusting! McDonalds should issue an apology! McDonalds-get ready, the boycott is comin

@oliverdarcy This is ridiculous. @McDonalds should be issuing an explanation and apology.

@oliverdarcy McDonalds needs to respond to this or face the wrath of the American public

McDonald's claimed that the tweet was a result of a security breach with the account and that they are currently investigating the incident.
Twitter notified us that our account was compromised. We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this.

But not everyone was convinced that they were "hacked."
