Breaking: War in the Middle East

The Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia this weekend via missile fired from Yemen towards Saudi Arabia's capital city Riyadh. For those of you unfamiliar with the current situation in Yemen, we'll explain provide some backstory.While the initial rebellion in Yemen took place in 2004, the latest move by the Houthi rebels occurred in 2014 wherein the Houthi somewhat patched their relationship with the ousted president but took control of large swathes of territory including the capital and much of the land to the north. With control of the government, the Houthi's radical ideas towards the United States and Israel, they have become a dangerous threat to stability in the middle east. Saudi Arabia has led a coalition to restore the former (legitimate) government in Yemen and thus provoked the ire of Iran (Houthi's are a proxy of Iran, much in the same way Hezbollah is).

With the recent attack this weekend, tensions have increased. "We see this as an act of war," says Adel Jubair, the Saudi foreign minister, he continued on saying "Iran cannot lob missiles at Saudi cities and towns and expect us not to take steps."

While many blame the United States for the unrest in the middle east, it's pretty clear that competing interests keep the sectarian violence brewing almost one hundred percent of the time.Iran denied that assertion that it was involved in the attack. However, Saudi Arabia has not backed down in its claim that the missile that was fired, had been provided to the Houthi rebels in Yemen by Iran. They claim that their military technology experts claimed that the missile was not of Yemeni origin, but was extremely similar to the missile fired at Saudi Arabia in July.With tensions all around the world rising between the United States and North Korea, the United States and Russia, Saudi Arabia and Iran, and everything going on in Syria...it seems like we are poised for another world war except this time, it may very well be a free for all instead of distinct alliances paving the way. With any luck, cooler heads will prevail and this kind of global catastrophe will be avoided. It will be a far more deadly war than any of us have seen in our lifetime.
