During the OSU lockdown yesterday, one call came into a news station with some reassuring information.Molly Clarke, a student at the college in a locked-down classroom, told reporters at CNN that despite the terrifying situation, she felt safe because of the military members guarding the room.“We have quite a few military men in our class, who are actually all standing by the doors, keeping us safe,” she said. “I’m feeling pretty good about that.”

It is possible that these men were ROTC candidates. The horrific attack began yesterday morning when an 18-year-old Somali man, later identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, drove over the sidewalk curb, striking a group of people. He then exited the vehicle with a butcher knife in hand and began stabbing and slashing several people. Nine victims in total were taken to the hospital; none with life-threatening injuries. The motive behind the attack still remains unclear.
