Weasels in the FBI: Director's Exposé

The director of the FBI told lawmakers on Wednesday that FBI agents “aren’t weasels."He made the remarks in reference to questions about how the Federal Bureau of Investigation handled Hillary Clinton and her unauthorized use of a private email server for classified information.He was criticized by Republicans for not recommending charges against the Democratic presidential nominee.“You can call us wrong, but don’t call us weasels,” he said in front of the House Judiciary Committee.” We are not weasels, we are honest people and we did this in that way.”FBI Director James Comey made sure to add that the investigation was performed without any special treatment or favoritism toward Hillary Clinton. The FBI adhered to “strict policies” while conducting its investigation.“We do not carry water for one side or the other. That’s hard for people to see because so much of our country we see things through sides,” he said. “We are not on anybody’s side. This was done exactly the way you would want it to be done. That said, questions are fair, feedback is fair.”Calling the FBI weasels, is apparently, unfair.

Investigation By (Not) Weasels Turned Up Classified Information

The FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server practices concluded that she had been “extremely careless” with her emails.Government investigators found emails that contained classified information on the server, including unmarked correspondence. The State Department also said that it would not release 22 emails she had sent that contained Top Secret information.The emails were never marked classified at the time of sending.The State Department’s inspector general released a report criticizing Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server and said she should have sought approval from the Department, and that she had violated department policies by not giving up her emails before leaving.Attorney General Loretta Lynch decided to follow the FBI’s recommendation and not press charges against Clinton.
