We know there are many, many ideas on how one should watch Star Wars. We know there are some that cannot stand Episode 1. We get it Jar Jar was just...why?However, we've discussed it with people in the office and if we include ALL of the movies, including the offshoots and even animated cartoon series, we believe there is a definitive watch order that can accommodate (not that we should, but we're going to be nice today) every single piece of the Star Wars story. We'll do this in descending order as to not confuse anyone. The first one we list is the first one you watch and so on down the line.Episode 4: A New HopeIf "A New Hope" Isn't at the top of your list, you're wrong. Get out. Just stop, do not pass go, do not collect $200, just leave.Rogue OneThis gives a nice leadup to "A New Hope, gives some background and introduces solid characters that only exist for one movie. Sad though, they did well on this piece.Episode 2: Attack of the ClonesThis is arguably where the prequels should have started. Obi-Wan has come into his own and despite being a mopey angsty teenager, Anakin does alright (we're being generous here). All in all a much better starting point than Episode 1, but what do we know. Also, great battle scene for the Jedi.Episode 5: Empire Strikes BackWe know we're going back and forth here, but there is a method to our madness. Just trust, note we're not saying Empire isn't the best movie in the series, we're just saying this is where it belongs on the timeline to give a solid accurate portrayal of events.Episode 3: Revenge of the SithThis episode perfectly fits following the Earth-shattering revelations made in Episode 5. We see the how and the why of those revelations.Episode 6: Return of the JediThe final episode of the original trilogy sums everything up quite nicely and ties it in a little bow.Episode 1: Phantom MenaceIt had to go somewhere, so we put it here, close to last so you can see the "Oh ok" for all the rest of the movie plot lines, plus Darth Maul, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan fight sooooo...SoloJust a straight up well-done movie. Well done. Plus it gives a good teaser as well as to the animated series which will be used as fillers. The Clone Wars (Animated Series)Timeline wise you should do this one first. It fills in some blanks regarding Anakin's career as a Jedi.Star Wars Rebels (Animated Series)This piece does a good job, like Rogue One of expanding the Star Wars universe and introducing us to new characters and tying together some loose ends of the story.Episode 7: The Force AwakensNot a bad episode, introduced a new cast of heroes and had a solid plotline. Not overly exciting, but also not a bad extension of the storyline.Episode 8: The Last JediThere were parts we really really really loved about this one, and parts that were just downright stupid. Things that made us say "C'mon man," over and over and over. Definitely watch this one last so something like this never happens again. However, there were some cool lightsaber battles.
