Wendys may well be more famous for its incredible twitter account than its food, but Wendy’s is the fourth biggest fast-food chain in America and is the second biggest burger chain. Their Baconator is one of the most famous fast foods around, but this has given them a reputation for not being the healthiest fast food company in town! But is it possible to lose weight at Wendy’s? In this article we are going to look at some healthy choices that you can order while dieting.

1. Chicken Go Wrap with Grilled Chicken

Boasting 19g of protein per serving, and only containing 260 calories, the Chicken Go Wrap with Grilled Chicken is an excellent snack. There are 25g of carbohydrates, and 10g of fat per serving, meaning that the snack is 34% fat, 38% carbs, and 28% protein. The other options for this wrap (spicy or homestyle chicken) contain less protein and more calories, so it’s best to stick to grilled.

2. Chicken Tenders (3 pieces)

While this menu is quite high in fat (14g or 44%), it also contains 22g of protein, and just 20g of carbohydrates. Each tender is 100 calories and you could share a 4 piece meal with someone else to keep calories low.

3. Strawberry Mango Chicken Salad (1/2 serving)

Fast food companies making salads can be a hit and miss endeavour. Who can forget the McDonald’s Caesar Salad that contained 425 calories and 21.4g of fat [3]? But Wendy’s seemed to have cracked it. Their salad contains just 270 calories (12g of fat), and a whopping 21g of protein! There are only 23g of carbs too. The salad also contains lots of nutrients from the fruit and vegetables.

4. Mediterranean Power Salad (1/2 serving)

Not only do Wendy’s have the Strawberry Mango Chicken salad, they have an even better one. The Mediterranean Power Salad has 20g of protein, just 8g of fat, and is only 230 calories. Containing grilled chicken, quinoa, feta cheese, and hummus, it’s also got all the usual suspects in a salad (lettuce, tomatoes, onions etc).

5. Apple Slices

Yeah this is an obvious one, but before you roll your eyes think back to just how weird this would have been a few years ago. Apple slices on a fast food menu? Unheard of! Now you can order a snack that is healthy, and just 40 calories. Perfect alongside any snack or meal that you order.

6. Small Chilli

This is treated as a side dish by Wendy’s but take a look at the nutritional information. It is only 210 calories, contains 17g of protein, only 6g of fat, and just 21g of carbohydrates. This snack is 33% protein, which is excellent. It has onions, celery, green peppers, kidney beans, chillis, tomatoes, and ground beef in it.

7. Grilled Chicken Sandwich

We’ve left the best till last, the Grilled Chicken Sandwich by Wendy’s is the perfect healthy choice in this fast food restaurant. It contains 360 calories but only 80 calories (21%) comes from fat. The rest comes from carbohydrates (38g) and from protein. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich has an amazing 35g of protein in it! Meaning that 140 out of 360 calories come from protein. This is really impressive, and makes the Grilled Chicken Sandwich an excellent choice.

Final Thoughts

Losing weight at Wendy’s is a difficult task, while we have mentioned 7 healthy options there are around 93 unhealthy options (completely made up stat alert). What’s more you are actively surrounding yourself with temptation. But, if you find yourself in Wendy’s (for whatever reason), you can at least find some diet-friendly foods that will help keep you on track.
