Every year, drunk Americans blow themselves up with fireworks on the 4th of July. I'm sure some of them are sober, but that doesn't make it any better. The Pew Research Center stated, "On average, more than 45,000 people visit U.S. hospital emergency rooms for treatment of injuries on July 4 and 5." Furthermore, on these two days, hospitals see "nearly 91,000 in total, by far the highest daily numbers in the entire year."The pandemic has hit emergency rooms hard to begin with, and they are buckling down for Independence Day. The Pew Research Center accounted, "On average, more than half of all the fireworks-related injuries Americans sustain each year occur during the first eight days of July."

4th of July Safety Brief

The 4th of July is about celebrating freedom, and enjoying liberty. The last thing you need to do is blow your fingers off, or worse. Furthermore, burning something down may get you arrested. That is no way to spend the holiday.Research shows, the most frequent fireworks-related injury are burns. This accounts for approximately 38% of fireworks-related in juries that require medical treatment. Bruises and abrasions come in second at 19%. Followed by cuts accounting fo 15%. Surprisingly, less than 4% of fireworks-related injuries required the amputation of a body part. Although that number is low, it is not zero.We do not endorse recess behavior. However, if you do decide to push your luck, at least record it so others can laugh at the spectacle. Just make sure you turn the camera sideways to capture all the hillarity. Try to have a fire extinguisher handy too. So be safe, enjoy the holiday as we celebrate the greatest country on earth. God Bless the United States of America.Stay tuned to American Grit for more news, stories and updates. Also read: Red Cross to give Amazon gift cards to blood donors
