Look, Be Careful When You Travel

We're at a loss for words. Normal sympathetic words don't seem quite right, regarding the tragedy that occurred yesterday when a family, rumored to have stood up to the cartels in the past, with dual US-Mexico citizenship were gun downed in their three-vehicle convoy in northern Mexico on the outskirts of Sonora. CNN, Fox, whatever you want to follow, they have more details and you can click here for CNN and here for Fox, but no matter your slant, no matter your ideals or leanings it won't change the fact that this happened. It was and still is tragic. There are reports flying in all over the place that it was a case of mistaken identity but then another saying they were the targets.Three women and six children are known to have perished in this latest from the cartels. Several have been kidnapped. Previously and recently, the Mexican Army gave up El Chapo's son as the cartels outgunned them and promised more violence if he was not returned to them.Look, be careful where you travel. Be alert. Be cognizant of your surroundings, but also cognizant of the strife in whatever country you are visiting. We have our strife here, don't worry, and to a foreigner, we're sure it seems dangerous. To us though, it's something we know. It's the devil we know, whatever problems our community has. Be wary of the devil you don't know when you travel.We're certain that there are some places in Mexico that are still safe to go, and we're sure that there are places in Europe that are still wonderful to visit, but you still need to do your due diligence.This family was local, they lived most of the time in Mexico, at least that's what we can gather from the reports, and still, this happened...be ever vigilant.It's such a quagmire, to encourage people to be wary and careful without being an alarmist. The world CAN be an extremely dangerous place, depending on where your foot hits terra firma. The world can also be an extremely safe place...again, depending on where you choose to be and if you choose to be armed (if you can be).Godspeed to whoever is sent to rescue the kidnapped victims.
