Two armed robbers broke into a home in Goldsboro, N.C. The break-in occurred after midnight on Saturday. The pair forcibly entered the home, and begun demanding money. When they were told there was no cash, the intruders shot a 73 year old woman. That's when her 12 year old grandson sprung into action. He grabbed a family gun and opened fire. Subsequently, striking one of the assailants. This caused the two lawbreakers to flee the scene.Shortly after, Khalil Herring, 19, was found at a nearby intersection suffering from a gunshot wound. He would later die as a result of his injuries. Authorities believe the evidence shows he was part of the shooting. However, there is no information on the second suspect. Police are still investigating the incident.

The 73-year-old woman, who was identified as Linda Ellis, is expected to live. She is in the hospital in stable condition being treated for the gunshot wound to her leg. News of the shooting shocked relatives. Particularly, because of how kind Ellis is to everyone.[caption id="attachment_23227" align="alignnone" width="306"]

Furthermore stating, "A 12-year-old juvenile occupant of the residence shot at the suspects with a firearm in self-defense, causing them to flee the area."Family members say he is "doing ok," and that "the family is just trying to get through it together. Chiquita Coley, who is Ellis' great niece, told reporters, “Why would somebody come into her house and do this? It’s got to stop." She continued by saying, "I don’t know what they’re thinking around here in Goldsboro, but it’s got to stop.”We wish a speedy recovery to Linda Ellis.
