Here are the 5 Things You Need To Know for the morning of July 12th.

  1. While the result has no impact on the World Series, a 2-1 American League win brought back an old time feel to the mid-summer classic. The 2-1 score however does have a small impact on history; with the 2-1 win the AL now ties the NL with 43 wins (there were two ties) and each side has scored a total of 361 runs in a total of 88 contests.
  2. 10 days confinement, reduction in rank by three grades and a forfeiture of 2/3 of a month's pay. That is the sentence for the first Marine that faced a summary court-martial in the 'Marines United' scandal.
  3. If you live on a busy street you can probably relate to Kelly Tufts. Tufts has added a life-sized police cruiser made out of plywood and siding to the end of his driveway on weekends and holidays to slow down traffic.
  4. If things continue to go as planned LA and Paris will receive the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games. While the cities know they are likely going to receive the games no one is sure which city will receive which games.
  5. At over 1 inch thick and nearly 21 inches across, a giant gold coin was stolen from Bode museum in March. After raids and the seizure of a vehicle, German police have made arrests in Berlin. However the coin has not been found and is believe to have been melted down and sold. The amount of gold it contained was valued at $4.2M.
