Lawsuit Challenges 'In God We Trust' On US Dollar

The US dollar is under attack for the phrase 'In God We Trust', from WGNTV.comCLEVELAND — A California attorney who unsuccessfully sued the government at least twice challenging the use of the phrase “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance has filed a federal lawsuit in Ohio challenging a similar phrase on U.S. currency and coins.Sacramento attorney Michael Newdow filed the lawsuit Monday in Akron. The lawsuit argues the phrase “In God We Trust” on U.S. money is unconstitutional and violates separation of church and state. The lawsuit wants the phrase prohibited from use on money.

US Dollar

Other than the fact that it has been appearing on US coin since 1864 and on the US Dollar since 1957, it seems that "In God We Trust" is the next thing people are getting offended by...surprise, surprise. There's a lot of things to get upset about in this world, yet people keep picking some of the more ridiculous things to be outraged over. Whether this turns out to be the next big social crusade to wrong some sort of "injustice" is yet to be determined, it's possible that this will all just blow over, but with how social media works these days it could quite easily blow up.However, we do have to wonder if Facebook is going to have a new profile picture filter for this.[mwi-cat-listing cat="94" ppp="4" cols="4" desc="false" type="view" btn_color="black" ]
