Irony. Oh, sweet irony. In talks with China, Secretary of Defense James Mattis was assured by China that they would not cause "chaos". Of course, they won't they are talking to Chaos actual. Despite the rising tensions between the two nations, all it took for China to seemingly calm down was a visit from Chaos himself.Secretary of Defense Mattis is not a shy man when it comes to calling it like he sees it. China he sees as an aggressor with a large military buildup and provocative actions in the South China Sea. In fact, Mattis was so displeased with China's recent aggressive actions, that China was not invited to come play with our ships and some other nations ships in a joint naval exercise.China says it doesn't want any trouble, which seems reasonable, except for one thing. We can't forget that they are the sole benefactor and ally of the North Koreans who for so long have been belligerent towards the United States and her allies. It has long been suspected of China utilizing North Korea to further its aims in the region. In addition, China has been increasingly hostile towards the idea of Taiwan being left alone.[caption id="attachment_17952" align="alignnone" width="750"]

It's not surprising, Taiwan is extremely important for both military and economic reasons. However, the United States has long been a supporter of Taiwan and aims to keep it independent from mainland China.
Luckily, nothing like a visit from Mattis to encourage a peaceful solution, especially when since China was looking Chaos Actual dead in the eye. As the famed Secretary of Defense was quoted as saying, ever so eloquently and bluntly"I don't have worry or stress, I cause worry and stress"Take note China. Take note.Related Reads:
