Deploy or get out (which takes effect on October 1st, 2018). Higher PFT standards. Increased performance in many areas...some in certain media outlets would have you believe these are "discriminatory" and that they "deny great people opportunities to serve their country." Those are some fair and reasonable arguments until you remember what the military is for. It's for killing.Sorry to burst the bubbles of parents and bright-eyed teenagers everywhere, but we'd be remiss if we didn't explain to you that the idea of serving your country involves you likely deploying to a shithole and then killing your enemy. Sometimes you may get injured and or wounded, blood everywhere. Quite blunt. Crazy right. How dare the military set standards across the board that as much as possible, ensures the safety and well being of the warfighter. After all the military was created to make everyone feel nice and fuzzy and warm, right? An escape from poverty and a career choice for some not fraught with danger.No. The military was made for killing, and that's just what they'll do, one of these days our military will kill the f*** outta you. Sorry, couldn't help it.

remember what the military is for

Look, we like people, genuinely. We're sure there are thousands of talented individuals that some of these standards are forcing out, but if you can't perform your job, or you pose an unnecessary risk to the warfighters...folks we're gonna need you to find a job where death is not the order of business for the day.Remember what the military is for, it's for making some other poor SOB die for his country. It's the penultimate discriminatory business because if you can't hack it, you and those around you could all die. If that's not discriminatory we're not quite sure what is.If your feelings are hurt, then so be it, but unnecessarily adding to the risk for the men and women who already put enough on the line is tantamount to treason and or subterfuge.
