Retired Officer shoots bank robber
A man in Fruit Cove, Florida learned a huge lesson today after attempting to rob a bank. While it looked initially like he may get away with the cash, he did not account for the retired Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer that was in the drive-thru. While trying to leave the scene the suspect was reportedly shot in the face as well as the arm. From First Coast News:A robbery suspect was shot by a former Jacksonville Sheriff's officer while trying to rob a bank in Fruit Cove Monday afternoon, authorities said.According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, an armed robbery suspect walked into the Compass Bank at the Bartram Oaks Walk shopping center with a semi-automatic weapon and a note.The suspect allegedly passed a note demanding money to a teller, who gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.
During the commotion, a bank patron going through the drive-thru heard what was going on. He was a retired JSO officer, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.The retired officer chased the suspect, shooting him twice, once in the face, and once in the arm.According to official reports, the suspect stayed on his feet and continued running through the shopping center to the opposite side to the front of Catina Mezcal, a Mexican restaurant, where he collapsed.See the full story from First Coast News.This should be a lesson to all would be criminals.
