Rogue AI Raises Questions: Artificial Intelligence

We're telling you. Will you listen? Nooooo, you won't, because you're stubborn. Your stubbornness is going to get everyone killed. We're just kidding, sort of. This latest incident regarding a rogue AI is not necessarily dangerous, but it's also not the best thing that could have happened either. Call us paranoid, but the troubles with Alexa are almost begging for Skynet to come and enslave us.The Amazon Alexa belonging to a Hamburg man decided that the night was pretty slow and she needed to mix things up a bit. Without hearing her "hot word" (the word used to gain the attention and power on the AI) or being activated from the phone of her owner, Alexa switched on and played some rocking jams cranked to eleven (because it's one more louder) from the hours of 1:50 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. Neighbors complained, police came, broke into the apartment and shut Alexa off. Then they replaced the lock. When Mr. Haberstroh returned from having a beer that evening, he found himself having to go to the police station to get his new keys and pick up a little gift from the locksmith.[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="2000"]

Crank it to 11[/caption]We're not going to say this isn't a hoax, cause the dude could totally be lying, yeah people still do that, but with the hefty bill left to him by the locksmith and the police, we're not thinking he was pranking folks. He may have, some people have more money than sense. The gentleman, Oliver Haberstroh wrote a little note on Amazon's German Facebook page saying "I was perfectly happy with your service and Alexa. However, since Friday night, the relationship between Alexa and me has taken a turn around. You could say it is complicated," referencing the rogue AI.

Complicated is a very interesting to word to use. Especially since Mr. Haberstroh asked Alexa if she (did we just assume Alexa's gender?) could pay him back, she replied that she couldn't find an answer to the question. How convenient right?In our minds, when faced with a rogue AI, we prefer a more kinetic solution so that no damn Decepticons come after us. We'd shoot it. That's what a kinetic solution is. Shoot the rogue AI.
