In case we've all forgotten, Russia is no friend to the United States. Despite whatever may make the newsreels, everyone with any common sense knows that Putin is kind of a prick and is looking to make Russia a preeminent world power once again. So it's no surprise that the behavior at the top has trickled down to the armed forces of Russia. Early this morning an SU-27 fighter intercepted an American aircraft over the Baltic Sea, getting dangerously close to the American plane. With tensions already heightened between the two countries amidst the United States and Russia given the opposing views on the Syrian civil war, it's not surprising to see Russian forces acting out, especially since the missile attacks by the United States in response to the chemical attacks by Bashar Al Assad's regime. The plane came within 20 feet of a United States spy plane flying in the area, and although reports say the maneuvering was technically "safe" it was still an extremely unprofessional and kind of asshole move.[caption id="attachment_17439" align="aligncenter" width="275"]

Navy P-8 Aircraft[/caption]Luckily our pilots stated that they never felt threatened or unsafe. Well, probably not because had there been any aggression, that Russian plane would've ended up in the drink. Our pilots knew this, the Russian pilot certainly knew this. Why? Because this isn't the first time this has happened, last year another Russian fighter intercepted a B-52 over the Baltic Sea. Recently we've had to intercept a Russian fighter that wasn't broadcasting the proper codes as it flew over the Baltic Sea region.[caption id="attachment_17440" align="aligncenter" width="271"]

Russian SU-27[/caption]In what seems like a never-ending game of chicken, Russian forces are playing a very dangerous game. We don't have a career politician as the Secretary of Defense, we have Chaos Actual running the game. It would seem to be the smart move on Russia's behalf if they stopped trying to poke the eagle.
