The golf legend is back in the headlines, but unfortunately, it isn't for golf.

Tiger Woods, age 41, was arrested at approximately 3:00am Monday, May 29, 2017, in Jupiter Island, Florida. According to Palm Beach County Sherrif's Office, Woods was released from custody roughly at 10:00am on his own recognizance with no bond. It is still unclear whether the athlete tested positive for alcohol or drugs.

Born Eldrick Woods, he is among one of the most successful golfers of all time. His ledger lists a total of 105 worldwide wins, to include 14 major triumphs and 79 Professional Golf Association victories, which currently makes him the second highest winner in PGA history. Woods was also the first golfer to ever hold all four professional major championships at one time.

In recent years, the golf champion has had other high-profile mishaps, including being hospitalized after being injured in a car accident which lead to a scandal afterwards, when it became public that he was unfaithful to his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren.

UPDATE: Monday night, Tiger Woods released a statement saying the following:

"What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly. I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself, too. I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again."
