It all started with a simple newspaper ad from a Veteran looking to connect with the outside world from his hospital room.

James Wiitamaki put out the ad, hoping to receive a few kind words of support from strangers. Instead, when his great-niece Brenna Glodowski posted his ad on Facebook, the request quickly went viral. Wiitamaki is a US Army Veteran who served in Germany.Already, letters are pouring out of homes across America to the VA in St. Cloud, MN. (We should point out that the correct zip code is 56303 for the address listed.)[caption id="attachment_10163" align="aligncenter" width="720"]

(Facebook)[/caption]Brenna was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for her post, writing:"Thank you for your support! I am seriously in awe at all the kindness you have shown my uncle and our family.I think Jimmy is going to be busy reading for quite some time

If you are thinking about sending a letter, consider sending one without a direct recipient to the Saint Cloud VA (or your local VA or nursing homes) - hoping we can spread the wealth and bring joy to all those who may need a little extra sunshine

"This is a great reminder that there are so many out there who would just like a word of encouragement or support. Let's send out as many letters as we can!
