First off, no shit. Secondly, what one would think would be common knowledge and common sense these days, is apparently making headlines. As of April 12th, semi-automatic firearms that resemble or act like an assault rifle (f*** I hate that term, to actually believe a semi-automatic rifle is an assault weapon is to illustrate mental deficiencies the likes of which the world has never seen before) will be banned by New Zealand. There will be a grace period for gun owners to sell back their guns by September 30th, 2019.Upon recieving this news the native Maori gangs promptly said (and we're paraphrasing for our own entertainment and joy),"Fugg off. We're keepin' our guns."Color us shocked. Surprised. Flabbergasted. Completely caught off guard. You mean that when a nation bans guns the criminal element of that nation keeps their guns. Gasp! This is not how we expected it to be at all!Hopefully, everyone is catching the sarcasm that is metaphorically dripping from my mouth like slobber from a Saint Bernard who just heard the dinner bell. The gangs were so ballsy even to say outright and this is a direct quote."Will gangs get rid of their weapons? No. Because of who we are, we can't guarantee our own safety." - Sonny FatuIf this little standoff between the government and the gangs in this tiny island nation can teach us anything it's that banning guns doesn't do shit except remove guns from law abiding citizens hands. Take guns away from the people who more than likely aren't planning to commit an atrocity like the one in Christchurch. We'll see what happens on April 12th though...probably not much, but September 30th of this year is the end of the grace period for turning in weapons. Are they going to forcefully confiscate weapons in a big roundup or will they ignore those who refuse...someone is going to call someone's bluff and they may not be so happy that they do. As always, situations regarding civilian firearm ownership and government confiscation of said firearms...they always go super peacefully and end up achieving the goal that everyone wanted (again sarcasm).
