As veterans and patriots continue to honor the selfless sacrifices of our fallen comrades, one group has tirelessly worked to also remember the families left behind.

Children of Fallen Patriots (CFP) is dedicated to “ensuring the success of their children through college education.”

“APPROXIMATELY 25,000 CHILDREN have lost an active-duty parent in the military over the last 35 years.- CFP”

This unique organization seeks to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to the children of our military heroes who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

A registered 501(c)3, they feel that by investing in the children’s education, they uphold our country’s commitment to these families, ensuring the legacies of our fallen heroes live on.

The Mission:

Children of Fallen Patriots provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.  This support includes the children of service members who dies as a result of combat, military training accidents, service-related illnesses, suicide, and other duty-related deaths.

Their services are offered to every branch of the armed forces, including active, reserve, and guard, and their vision is to ensure that every child of a fallen patriot receives all necessary college funding.

Furthermore, CFP believes that a college education is the most important gift they can give to these children, who have already sacrificed so much.

The History:

Founded in 2002 by veteran David Kim, the organization has since grown to extend support to Gold Star families to 51 states and territories, across all branches of the military. Co-founders, David & Cynthia Kim were inspired by the sacrifice of David’s comrade, Sergeant William Delaney Gibbs, and sought a way to give back.

The Need:

Did you know that over 25,000 children have had parents who have fallen in the line of duty over the past 35 years? Additionally, data shows 53% of surviving spouses make less than $50,000 per year.

For the last two decades, Children of Fallen Patriots has worked tirelessly to locate and assist these children, offering them scholarships and financial assistance for their undergraduate studies.

The Impact:

To date, CFP, through their unwavering dedication to service members' families, has assisted over 2,800 motivated students with scholarship and financial assistance.

Thanks to generous donors and corporate sponsors, they take pride each spring as a new group of students graduate from colleges and universities across the country, carrying on the legacy of their fallen parents.

A Perfect Encompass Rating from Charity Navigator:

CFP’s commitment to financial stewardship, and the unwavering focus of their mission, earned the organization a perfect rating from Charity Navigator, a nationally recognized nonprofit evaluation site. With over $66 million awarded in support to more than 2,800 children, they continue to create a steady source of funding to support future generations of military children.

By investing in the future of these children, CFP continues to honor the legacy of our nation’s fallen.
