Taiwan Anticipates Invasion

Why wouldn't they? China has been saying for the better part of this year that they're going to reclaim Taiwan and unify China. They've built island after island and installed military hardware on all of them to bolster their ability to conduct an amphibious landing on Taiwan.So Taiwan conducts military drills designed to counter an invasion by China...why anyone would be surprised is beyond us."These drills are based on the principle of 'conduct training wherever wars might break out,'" he added. "We are prepared to maintain our territory and freedom," said Maj. Gen. Chen Chung-chi of the Taiwan defense ministry.We're not entirely sure how long before some shit goes down between these nations but given the strategic importance of Taiwan in regards to controlling the Taiwan Strait and mainland China's drive towards becoming a major world power, we'd estimate that at least someone does something stupid before the end of 2019, but hey we've been wrong before.The real question is whether or not the United States will swoop in and aid the tiny nation should an invasion attempt occur. On one hand, we can see a scenario where we (the United States) swoop in and get involved in a conventional shooting war with China and win. On the other hand, we can see how it'd be extremely foolhardy as well getting involved in a shooting war with one of our biggest trade partners. The entire scenario is the perfect definition of being put between a rock and a hard place.How it goes, only time will tell but we're certain of one thing. Taiwan, despite being small in stature has resolved that they will not go down without a fight. History is full of underdogs who prevailed against the Goliaths of there time. Maybe they won't even need our help, maybe they'll stun the world and leave China sitting dumbfounded and defeated.
