Just after midnight, a shooting outside of a teen club in Ft. Meyers has left 2 dead and at least 14 injured. Here are the facts that we have right now:
When and Where Did this Happen?
Authorities responded to the shooting at around 12:30 AM Monday night. The shooting took place outside of Club Blu in Ft. Meyers, FL. At the time, the club had just finished an all-ages event and was letting out kids to head home. A car then drove up to the club and several shots rang out.Police are also investigating two other areas where shots were fired. One is a nearby apartment complex, where residents and cars were shot at. The other is on Ortiz Avenue, further away from the initial scene, where a person of interest was detained.
Who Were the Victims?
Local reports state that Stef'An Strawder, 18, was one of the two killed at the scene. A promising sports star, he had aspired to play Division I basketball in college. The other victim was Sean Archilles, age 14.Between 14 and 16 other patients were admitted to Lee Memorial hospital last night. So far they have been unidentified. NBC reported that at least two of those injured were in intensive care as of early Monday. All of the patients were between the ages of 12 and 27.
Are There Any Suspects?
Three people so far have been detained for questioning following the shooting. Police have not yet revealed any names of any suspects. So far, there have not been any reports of a connection to ISIS or similar terrorist organizations.
