North Korea Softens Tone

There is always something to argue about in America, but for once let's be real about a success that we can all be happy about. North Korea. For years, as long as anyone can remember North Korea has been openly hostile and aggressive towards the United States. In turn, the United States returned that hostility. To many of us, North Korea has long been a joke. The token angry rogue state.Usually, North Korea on this anniversary takes a moment, or several moments to blast the United States in angry, vitriolic tirades.Every.Single.Year.They pull the same crap. Recently the success of American diplomacy has created a much more open North Korea. A North Korea that has met with the President of the United States for this first time in history. Who has promised to denuclearize their arsenal. Who has returned the remains of U.S. forces from the Korean War. Who, for the first time ever has not openly rebuked or condemned the United States as it remembers the onset of the Korean War.Our history with the small nation has never once been anything aside from hostile and aggressive. Yet here we are in 2018, and we've seemingly brought peace to one of the most heavily fortified places and brazenly violent regimes on the planet. They haven't even held the traditional anti-American rally either.We're not here to take sides and certainly, there are things that we as a nation, as a people, dedicated to the ideas of liberty do better than anyone else (Hello World War undefeated Champions), there's also a lot that we could do better as well. This though, this marks a historic changing in attitudes between the two nations and possibly a lasting peace on the Korean peninsula.So this 4th of July, be proud of all the good we've done in the world.
