Whether you love him or hate him, it's no secret that Tiger Woods revolutionized the world of golf. For the first time in who knows how long, people across the country tuned their television sets to watch golf tournaments. Parents and children alike could identify with the wholesome non-violent, seemingly safe game absent major injuries and any violent contact. Tiger Woods made golf cool. Love him or hate him, golf is popular today in large part because of Tiger Woods. So when calamity struck Tiger's life on multiple fronts, the sport held its breath. Was the golden boy of golf done? Undergoing surgery after surgery on his back and enduring the personal challenges of his life seemed to plague Tiger with a lack of success as he only made 19 starts in the last 4 years. We thought he was back for good when he racked up 5 wins on the PGA Tour in that same year, but alas it was not meant to be and he failed to qualify at the Farmers Insurance Open in January of this year. The Hero World Challenge is a perfect opportunity for Tiger to have a strong resurgence into competitive golf. “I am excited to return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge,” Woods said. Fully recovered from his spinal fusion surgery, Tiger is thankful for the opportunity, telling fans "I would also like to thank the fans for their unwavering support during my injury.”What does the future hold for Tiger Woods, the former golden boy of golf? Will he return to the winning ways that were once commonplace for the golf prodigy? Time, as with all things will be the ultimate judge of that, but it will be exciting to see Tiger play again. The Hero World Challenge will take place November 30th-December 3rd in Albany, Bahamas.
