With all the rhetoric and derision being pushed out, the sacrifices of some of our most important Americans are being buried in the media. The powers that be would rather you be bombarded by sound bites and out of context headlines, while heroic Americans are being ignored.
Often times, first responders only make the news in the rare instances something goes wrong. All the while, the countless daily examples of fidelity and courage our police, EMS and other first responders display are taken for granted.
Today, we come together to honor the brave men and women who answer the call when it matters most. On National First Responders Day, we recognize those who face the most intense challenges with courage, grit, and dedication.
Every day, first responders across our nation put their own safety on the line to protect and serve their communities. They often charge into danger without hesitation, stand steadfastly between us and harm, and bring hope in times of crisis. It takes a rare strength and an uncommon heart to take on this role—a role that many of us can only imagine.
We owe them not only our gratitude but also our unwavering support. To each first responder: Thank you. For every life you protect, for every sacrifice you make, and for the strength you embody, we salute you today and every day.
This We’ll Defend
