No parent should outlive their child. Seeing the flesh of your flesh and blood of your blood grow, succeed and accomplish all that life has to offer is the pinnacle of being a parent. Sadly when we go to war, there are mothers who must endure the tragedy and hardship of losing their son or daughter. They live with the wish that they could see their child, their baby, one last time. They wish to hold them in their arms, to hug their neck and tell them they love them, one last time. The amount of love and respect we at American Grit have for our Gold Star Mothers on Gold Star Mother’s Day is unimaginable. To our Gold Star Mothers, your strength, your grit, and your love has helped many service members that came home, who grieved over your child as well. Through wisdom, love and maturity you showed us all how to continue our lives after loss with inexplicable grace. You took dirty, violent, hardened men and brought them back to the light with an embrace. There are so many things that ought to be said about Gold Star Mothers on Gold Star Mother’s Day, that we couldn’t hope to describe how much you mean to this nation and the warriors who you love like your own children. You are the example to which this nation owes its behavior. Your sacrifice is more than any of us could ever imagine, and yet you drive forward with every bit of fight that your son or daughter possessed. We wondered where they got their drive from, their passion for life and their compassion for others, how did so much fit into one person, who taught them? Then we met you, and it all made sense. Be encouraged that there are those who have not forgotten your child. As we remember them, we remember the burden that you shoulder every day. Be encouraged that we are here for you as they were there for us all. Be encouraged that should you ever need anything there are those who will drop everything and answer the call. You are never alone and you are never forgotten. You are loved and cherished more than you will ever know, the adopted mothers of a brother now passed. Stand strong, keep guiding us and teaching us as you have so many times before, how to handle hardship and tragedy in the way only a mother could. Semper Fidelis.
